Automotive
I am intimately and passionately interested in human technology and the complex impacts it engenders. Technology is often considered to be at odds with the natural world, but that is not my experience and view, and I hope that my images of landscapes and automobiles challenge this dualistic thinking.
Many of my automotive images feature Porsches and, frequently, are shot from the unique (and fast-fleeting) vantage of the pilot’s seat.

The 993 is the last of the air-cooled 911s and is a contender for finest air-cooled automobile ever manufactured.

Nearly 100 miles into a 500-mile road rally, sunrise occurs in the clear skies of the Sierra Nevada foothills...my kind of day!

Call it June Gloom. Fog add a dimension to road rallying that lends itself to both photography & paying close attention to the rapidly changing conditions.

Less is more. Remove weight. Gain quickness. And speed. And if it needs to be said, a bit more nimbleness through the twisties. Go drive.

There are many small joys in life, including the way tunnels amplify the sound of an automobile engine, especially a Flat-6 of a Porsche 911.

There are ho hum vintage and classic vehicles, and then there is the Porsche 356 Cabriolet: top down motoring at its finest.

Dusk on the Redwood Highway (U.S. 101) in Humboldt County after more than 12 hours of driving a rally with a few other Porsche 911s.

Looks like someone is planning to rally during the night! Go Drive.

The processing of this image removed much of the shape of these 911s, but if I stare at it for a few moments, my eye begins to fill back in what is missing.

The business end of a handful of Porsche 911s at a little get-together at the PCA Werk's Reunion in Monterey, CA. In one basic shape. And many flavors!

After more than 8 hours wondering among the metallic eye candy at the PCA's Werk's Reunion in Monterey CA, I find parked under a tree, a survivor.

At the most unexpected of times, a work of art may drive by: it is best to keep your eyes open.

During a quick break from a road rally in Northern California, the early AM light on Mt. Tam just north of the Golden Gate made 2 of the 911s seem unearthly.

Sonora Pass over the Sierra Nevada in California is a rally car destination which can only be described as mentally & physically challenging to traverse.

A 911 is a 911 is a 911, right? WRONG! The 991 evolution further defines function over form but oh my, that form is as gorgeous a 911 as was ever crafted.

Living on the Pacific Coast often yields intense sunsets which, when they're captured, take on a beauty that cannot be anticipated.
A parade of 911s travel in unison at speed up CA-1 on the Northern California coast.

A clean metallic surface yields an almost 3-dimensional reflection of the Pacific Ocean & sky while rapidly moving (yes, this is rolling art).

Picking up the rear in a train of three 997s, my fellow travelers are silhouetted in front of me in the pre-dawn darkness, lit only by the moon.

Topping a hill, the Porsche Carrera GTS continues north on CA-1 along the Marin - Sonoma Coast.
